Excel Partnership Joins Forces With US Army National Guard
By Tom Godfrey
Excel Partnership, Inc., SAI Global's North American professional services business, has announced a deal to extend its work with the US Army National Guard that will see the development of an extensive environmental management systems training program.
The Chief Executive Officer of SAI Global Limited, Mr. Ross Wraight, said, "Our training business in North America continues to perform well with the tailored training programs it offers, and continues to generate interest from a diverse range of organizations across the US."
According to Lieutenant Colonel Brian D. Rogers. Environmental Strategic Initiatives Officer, Army National Guard, Environmental Division: "As its name portrays, Excel Partnership has become an integral partner in the implementation of ISO 14001 in the US Army National Guard."
"Excel was quick to learn the requirements and the nuances of operations within the Army National Guard and provided much insight on benefits to our mission that could be derived from implementing ISO 14001," said Lieutenant Colonel Rogers.
The President of Excel Partnership, Inc., David Middleton, explains, "We have been working with the US Army National Guard leadership to design and develop customized ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems [EMS] training programs, and over the past two years we have delivered the training programs at various installations within the US and its territories."
"In doing so we have gained significant knowledge about Army National Guard processes and how ISO 14001 can benefit the Guard and its mission," said Mr. Middleton.
The current, fully customized training curriculum includes:
- ISO 14001 EMS Leadership Overview for the US Army National Guard course
- Implementing an ISO 14001 EMS at the national Guard Installations course
- Environmental Performance Assessment Training course for the national Guard's internal audit program
- Aspects / Impacts Workshop
According to Mr. Middleton: The training emphasizes environmental management that not only covers regulatory compliance, but also addresses the mission and environmental impact reduction."
"The US Army National Guard's commitment to training in this area is consistent with the US government and private industry's move to take charge and use environmental management to benefit an organization's mission and profitability." said Mr. Middleton.
"The key to managing the environment in ways that enhance the mission is to take the responsibility for environmental leadership away from government regulatory agencies and put it in the National Guard Command's hands. We continue to assist hundreds of clients with this fundamental change."
