Stuart Walker
Background
Stuart has worked since 1970 in the quality field. He was instrumental in the implementation of UL’s Registered Firm program, serving as the coordinator for the Southeastern US. Stuart has conducted numerous assessments for Underwriters Laboratories, Inc (UL), British Standards Institute (BSI) and AQA International LLC. Prior to 1989, Stuart served as a Field Representative and Field Engineer for Underwriters Laboratories, Inc. His responsibilities required the regular on-site review of products and systems to confirm conformance with requirements established during initial product listings. During his time with the US Marine Corps, Stuart received training in electronics, radar fundamentals, and test instrument repair, and served in a calibration laboratory for over two years.
Specialties
Since 1989, Stuart has extensively worked with organizations in understanding, implementing and maintaining management systems based on requirements found in ISO 9000, QS-9000, ISO/TS 16949 and AS9100. Stuart’s clients find that he has the ability to take a potentially complex subject such as ISO 9000 and present it in a simple and clear manner. Stuart especially enjoys working with persons who have little or no quality management experience to help them understand the basic concepts reflected in the various standards. Stuart routinely assists his clients with integrating Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, environmental management and safety management principles with quality management system principles into an “Integrated Management System”.

Stuart has provided training and consulting support for many large and small organizations within the defense, heavy industrial, consumer goods, electronic, general manufacturing, construction, automotive, and chemical industries. Some companies for whom Stuart has provided extensive support include: Compaq, Hoechst Celanese, Alumax of South Carolina, General Electric, Shuford Mills, Elf Atochem of North America, Ericsson, DaimlerChrysler Corporation, GM Powertrain, Mercedes Benz, Resinall Corporation and Rubberlite Inc.
Credentials
Stuart received his BS in Industrial Technology-Electronics from North Carolina A & T State University. As a Senior Member of the American Society for Quality (ASQ), Stuart has served in a number of leadership positions within the Raleigh, NC section and currently serves as the Recertification and Advancement Chairperson. Stuart is an ASQ Certified Quality Manager, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer, an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, and an RAB-certified Quality Management Systems Lead Auditor.
Stuart has served on both the North Carolina Quality Conference Steering Committee and the Evaluation Task Team of the North Carolina Quality Leadership Award Development Committee, and as an Examiner for the North Carolina Quality Leadership Award program.
